Course Overview

In today’s rapidly changing business environment, more and more employers and employees recognise the Postgraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship as a programme of study that provides competency in the major functional business areas of an organisation along with developing a focus on new venture creation and entrepreneurial thinking.

The Postgraduate Certificate program, duration 6 months, 30 ECTS, 750 hours, is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), and the accreditation category of the program is ‘Higher Education Course / Program’

The WEST Postgraduate Certificate is a 30-credit program which is designed to incorporate and reflect on International best practices and is based on the best methods for business education founded upon critical enquiry and challenge.

The program will enable professionals to develop their strategic thinking and will provide them with the necessary skills to lead in the challenging business sector.

Entry Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University OR a Level 6 Qualification from an accredited awarding or professional body equivalent to an undergraduate degree.

  2. English Language Proficiency: Candidates who are non-native speakers of the English language or have not studied their undergraduate in English must undertake the IELTS at 6.5 or above The English language proficiency requirement may be waived if the student is a native speaker of English and/or they have completed their secondary education in a country where English is the official language or English was the language of instruction where they graduated.

  3. Proficiency in operating Office software especially Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Be conversant with operating email and search engines.

  4. Mature Entry: For mature students not holding an undergraduate degree but instead a level 5 equivalent qualification with over 10 years of work experience in business, managing a team of professionals and who demonstrate the ability to succeed in the MBA, an RPL will be conducted to judge their direct entry into the MBA program.

    Note: No credit exemptions are offered, at Level 7, based on the mature entry option.

  5. Applicants holding recognised L7 Diploma: Students already holding a level 7 diploma from a recognized awarding body may apply for RPL of their academic qualifications, to gain entry into top-up units of the MBA. The applicant may get up to 60 ECTS exempted towards the MBA. They would be required to do the 30 ECTS including the dissertation.

Target Audience

The Postgraduate Certificate program is targeted at:

  • Applicants who have completed their level 6 Diploma / Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University and wish to apply for an accredited Postgraduate diploma/ degree program. Applicants would be 21 years and above. We encourage all applicants to have work experience to support their postgraduate-level learning.

  • Junior and Middle level professionals; having 3 years and above of work experience and are used to solving business problems and managing a small or large team in private or public enterprises. These individuals may qualify if they hold a valid Level 5 qualification given their work experience on a case-by-case basis.

  • Mature individuals who enjoy a senior level professional portfolio or run Entrepreneurial ventures and now seek to move to a postgraduate qualification to hone their skills further. These individuals may qualify, if they hold a valid Level 5 qualification, given their work experience on a case-by-case basis.

  • Applicants who have completed a valid level 7 diploma qualification and wish to move to upgrade to an MBA. These applicants receive credits after undergoing a systematic RPL process. Ofqual recognised Awarding bodies such as Pearson, Qualifi, CMI etc host a series of Level 7 qualifications which can be considered for upgrade to the MBA.

Once the candidate meets the Entry Requirements, he /she may apply for the program by completing the Application Form.

To be prepared to complete the application form, please keep the following documents ready:

  1. PDF Professional Profile / Resume
  2. PDF of Bachelor Degree / Level 6 Diploma along with transcripts where applicable
  3. PDF copy of the passport photo page
  4. Where applicable, Scanned copy of an approved English Language qualification (IELTS 6.5 and above unless their education was done with English as a primary language of instruction)
  5. Personal Statement where applicable
  6. JPEG / PNG One passport-sized photo

Letter of Offer

Once the applicant’s documents are verified to be complete and meeting the requirements, the applicant is provided with a letter of Offer. The Letter of Offer includes the invoice as well.

Acceptance of Offer

Upon accepting and signing the letter of Offer, the student then transfers the fees as per agreed schedule.

Access to Online Portal

The applicant then is issued his ID card and welcome letter and given access to the online platform.
